‘ Connect the dots ‘

Meaning / Usage : to understand something by piecing together hints or other bits of information.

Explanation : ‘ connect ‘ literally means ‘ to draw lines between ‘ ; ‘ dots ‘ refers to pieces of information gathered to understand a certain situation.

Examples :

  1. To understand her feelings for you , you have to connect dots based on her behaviour.
  2. Alex has to connect the dots so he could be able to find the real problem.
  3. To resolve a crime , investigation officers have to be good at connecting dots.

A : I am thinking why Anne is always refusing my invitation.

B : By connecting the dots based from your story , I can say that she isn’t really interested to you.
