Gender Pay Inequality
There is still a long way to go before women achieve economic equality with men. This is according to the recently released annual Global Gender Gap Report.The report found many areas in which women lag far behind men today. One huge area is pay. Women around the world currently earn about 20%-30% less on average than their male counterparts. The report said: “In the workplace, women still encounter obstacles in taking on managerial or senior official roles.“
Lag – fail to keep up with other in movement or development
Counterpart – a person or thing that corresponds to or has the same function as another person or thing in a different place or situation
Encounter – unexpectedly be faced with or experience
Obstacle – a thing that blocks one’s way or prevents or hinders progress
